Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by.
NEWSFLASH: I’m happy to report that the broadband is finally fixed working; in fact it’s actually quicker than before I reported the fault so there’s always a positive huh![]()
Anyway today I’d like to share some new pictures with you from a promotional shoot a few weeks back with a singer by then name of Stuart Warren who tours as The Voice of Neal Diamond.
The first time I heard Stuart’s voice I was a guest at a friends’ wedding and I kid you not I actually thought it was a CD playing; incredible likeness to the man himself:

Tweeking the Invislble Black Backdrop
Om as for the shoot, the brief from Stuart was for minimal lighting, so for the majority I used an Elinchrom Quadra (2 heads) and tweeked the Invisible Black Backdrop technique I’ve written about before [Link]
Basically if I wanted a little more ambient light to creep into the shot so that some of the environment could be seen it was just a case of slowing the camera’s shutter speed down i.e from 1/160sec to 1/125sec etc…simples![]()
The shot above was lit using the 2 heads arranged pretty much as in this lighting diagram:

Right that’s all from me so but as always if you have any questions/comments then please feel free to make use of the comments section below.
In the mean time thought, whatever you’re up to this weekend have a good one and I’ll catch you back here next week when I’ve some exciting news to tell you about![]()
Enjoy,
Glyn

Adam Allegro - Really cool… Love how you show the setup so detailed here! I am still learning some of the portraiture techniques, and this helps tons. Thanks!
Glyn - Thanks Denver
Glyn - Mike…In this case it was just a matter of moving slightly to either side whereas normally I’d flag it off (didn’t have anything with me though…doh)
Glyn - Hey Russ, thanks so much for the comment…much appreciated
Denver Photographer - Very very nice lighting. Very nice.
Russ Robinson - Nice cross-lighting and B&W conversion. You always show a lot of finesse in your work, which is why I’m a fan. Of course, I’ve also got a soft spot in my heart for band & musician promos.
Mike - Whats the best way of preventing lens flare when your light is pointing near the lens (like it looks like your key is doing? Flags? Grids? Angles?
