Shooting on Location: Rugby Player

Hey Folks,

Hope all is well with you:)

Well through the wonders of technology, well a WiFi Hotspot anyway, I thought I’d post whilst out on location grabbing a bite to eat…

I’m currently down in Farnham, Surrey photographing for a new company website specialising in Sports Massage Therapy where the images we’re working on are to be used as page backgrounds and across other promotional material.

For obvious reasons I need to keep this brief so here’s a quick look B.T.S. (Behind the Scenes) to give you an idea what’s going on…

For the portrait shots we’re using a meeting room in the local Health/Sports Club as a make-shift studio.

Despite having a backdrop and stands in the car I opted to use one of the walls in the meeting room instead. I just needed to light our Rugby Player (Sam) in such a way as there was contrast between him and the wall so that cutting him out later during the retouching was that much easier.

Oh and yes, that there’s a Lightmeter which I use all the time now having been bullied convinced by my Buddy Frank Doorhof when I was over in the Netherlands with him last month [Link]. Never used to use one but now (for me) I’m finding setting up so much quicker…and that’s most definitely a good thing:)
Here you can see me using the traditional ‘Photographer Squat‘ technique to grab a few shots of the nearby Rugby Playing fields which will be used as the background in the final picture; the fields I mean…not me squatting:)Anyway I really must dash as we have more shots to take and I don’t want to get on the wrong side of these Rugby guys so have a good one and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow,

Enjoy,
Glyn

ps> I’ll post some images from this shoot including a look at the lighting and retouching in Photoshop early next week

DaveT - Really looking forward to seeing this. It’s good to see something shot outside of the studio too as it’s more likely this would be the sort of environment I would find myself in.
