High5 Workshops: Retouching & Ten Pin Bowling

Hey Folks,

How’s it going?

Well as I write this post the final day (Day 5) of the first ever High5 Workshop has come to an end.

It’s been a truly amazing 5 days for so many reasons and there’s always mixed emotions when big workshops like this come to an end; kind of sad that it’s over but now also excited for the next one which in this case starts on April 27th 2013.

Today though I thought I’d share a few pictures and a video from yesterday where we focused on Marketing, Social Media, Time Management etc and then in the evening all went out to play Ten Pin Bowling…but not as a competition right?!?;)

Some of the group with prints of some of the images we made from photographs taken during Day 1 and Day 2: Black Ops, Beauty, Captain Jack Sparrow, Expandables and a portrait of OIiver who’d flown in all the way from Africa for the workshop…Awesome!!!

A couple of the slides from the Self Marketing session; any ideas what the Bodybuilding slide could be about?

With great friends Calvin Hollywood and Gabor Richter; one day I promise we’ll have a serious picture taken…well maybe:)

STRIKE !!! 1st take…honest Guv’nor:)

I’m here in Germany for a few more days as we’re working going to be working on some new projects, videoing and maybe even doing a Live Stream from Calvin’s Studio (Weisches Lischt) tomorrow, so keep an eye on my Facebook page [Link] for details.

Right time to go as we’re off out to what I’m told is the BEST Burger Bar in Germany (I’ve become addicted since Washington last year and being introduced to Five Guys Burgers)

Catch you tomorrow,
Glyn

Update: High5 Workshops Day 3

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for stopping by.

Another quick update for you to let you know what’s going on…

Ok so right now Day 4 of the High5 Workshops is well underway and today we’re talking about Marketing, Promotion, Social Media…

Yesterday was Retouching Day when we  worked through the images that we shot during Days 1 and 2 showing all kinds of techniques for Beauty Retouching, Compositing, Cut Outs, Special Effects and much, much more…

Here’s a group photo taken at the end of Day 2 when we were photographing our amazing models who all put so much effort and energy into what they were doing all day.

Last night though we ended the retouching day with some friendly competition on the Go Kart track…well, when I say friendly it was so funny how before the races we were all “Yeah it’s not a competition, just for fun ok” BUT when it started…aaaarrrggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!:)

This evening we’re all out to go Bowling and some food and then tomorrow everyone is heading to Heidelberg for a photo walk, taking some pictures and socialising…can’t wait!

Right, I’d better make a move so whatever you’re up to, have a good one and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow.

Enjoy,
Glyn

The High5 Workshops are well under way…

Hey Everyone,

I’m currently over in Germany teaching with my Buddy Calvin Hollywood at the first ever High5 Workshops so time is a little tight for long posts but I just wanted to drop by to keep you up to date…

We’re currently on Day 3 of the workshop which is the retouching day, having had 2 days of Photography taking; Day 1 at a superb location working both indoors and outdoors and focusing on Portraits (Beauty, Character etc)…

Day 2 focusing on Photographing for Compositing, with some AMAZING models…

Also in the evenings we have lots planned too; the first night everyone meeting up for a meal, then after the first day’s shooting everyone was off to a night club for food, drinks and dancing…or in my case throwing arms and legs around:)

So today we’re in the middle of Day 3 retouching some of the images: Beauty, Jack Sparrow, Expendables and Female Warrior. I’ll be sure to show you some of our results in a later post but tonight we’re off out Go Karting…all sponsored by Wacom:)

Right, must dash…Calvin has almost finished the Beauty Retouch and next I’ll be showing the retouch for the Jack Sparrow.

Don’t forget you can keep up to date with all the goings-on and see more pictures, videos and behind the scenes info over on the High5 Workshops Facebook Page.

Have a good one and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow,
Enjoy,
Glyn

Heading to Germany for the High5 Workshops

Hey Folks,

Hope all is well with you.

Just grabbing a few minutes to write a short blog post whilst I’m sat at London’s Heathrow Airport waiting for my flight to Germany for the first ever High5 Workshops.

I seriously can’t wait to get started, get over to Germany for the week and meet all the attendees that we have coming from all over the world.

Don’t miss a thing…
There’s so much planned for the 5 days of the High5 Workshop: Photography, Lighting, Retouching, Marketing and Networking BUT it doesn’t stop there as there’s so much planned for the evenings too…Go Karting for starters:)

With us taking care of all the social media will be Stefan Krauth who’ll be posting all the goings on throughout each day: videos, pictures and inside information so if you want to see what we’re all up to and don’t want to miss a thing just head on over to the High5 Workshops Facebook Page, click the ‘Like’ button and you won’t miss a thing:)

Right, I’d best make a move as it looks like my flight’s departure gate has just opened so whatever you’re up to, have a great weekend and I’ll catch you back here in a few days.

Enjoy,
Glyn

Advanced Photoshop Magazine Issue No:105

Hey Everyone,

Another ‘heads up‘ to let you know that you know that today, my first article with Advanced Photoshop Magazine has been published and is available in stores or digitally.

In the latest issue of Advanced Photoshop Magazine (issue 105) I’ve written a tutorial showing how I made my Dark Angel picture; a tutorial I’ve never published before on my blog or elsewhere.

Now, the main focus of the tutorial is on the Dodging and Burning techniques that were used (traditional Photoshop tools plus curves etc) as that along with some lighting effects formed the main part of the retouching.

I’ve written the tutorial to take you through each and every step; taking the out of camera picture of model Jessica and placing her into the scene and then to create the final look; plus the files are available to download so you can follow along too.

Advanced Photoshop Magazine is in stores now and also available to download and subscribe from their Publisher’s website here [Link] or available digitally: Apple Newsstand, Zinio etc…

Hope you like it.

Incidentally, the model in this picture is Jessica Gutzeit who will also be modelling for us at the very first of our High5 Workshop that I’ll be teaching at alongside my great friend Calvin Hollywood in Germany…flying out tomorrow; oh and the background is from a photograph I took at Heidelberg Castle when I was last there too.

Can’t wait to visit there again in a few days time too; fab location!

Right must dash…packing to be done.

Have a good one and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow.
Enjoy,
Glyn
