Balancing flash with street lights…

Here’s a shot I took around New Years Eve whilst passing through Beaconsfield – a village near to where we live. The idea behind this shot was to simply practice lighting a subject, in this case my wife Anne, with off camera flash and to also capture the lights behind her which were draped over some trees. The trick with a shot like this is to use just the right amount of power in the flash so as not to wash out the skin tones.

This coming weekend I’m going to be in central London photographing a model, so be sure to check back to see some of the images.
