Well we’re at the 31st December 2013 so not long now until we see the start of a New Year.
It’s the time of year when New Year’s Resolutions are made so my question to you is…have you made any?
I tell you what though let’s rename them and instead of calling them RESOLUTIONS let’s call them PROMISES!
So thinking back to December 31st 2012 and those New Year’s Resolutions that you made, how have you faired over the past 12 months? Have you kept to them?
If you said that you’d regularly update your blog…have you? If you said you’d make a point of studying/practicing each and every day even if it’s for 5 minutes…have you? Have you added new images to your portfolio? Have you developed your skill level, improved your knowledge, added all those new pictures to your portfolio; and so it goes on…
Hey we’re all human and yes stuff happens in day to day life that can get in the way (for want of a better phrase) so all I wanted to do today was to encourage you to make ONE PROMISE that you’ll do in 2014; ONE PROMISE that I truly believe, no I guarantee, will improve your skill level, produce your BEST EVER results, Inspire and Motivate you, add new images to your portfolio AND attract clients.
So what is it?
Personal Projects! Yes I know I’ve mentioned this before on more than one occasion and you know it BUT have you done it?
I cannot stress enough how important I feel it is to make time for Personal Projects; time in the diary when you’re shooting for you and shooting to create something that excites you. When you have gone through coming up with an idea for a new picture, planned and prepared everything, sorted out a location, the model, props, gone through the shoot and then finally retouched the picture THIS is when you grow!
When I have a little bit of down time I’m currently finishing off a Personal Project that’s themed around the story of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and I can’t begin to explain how much fun it is putting it all together…
But as soon as this picture is finished there’s projects already in the diary for the next 3 months (I always plan 3 months at a time) and they all start off by being scribbled down in a sketch pad I’ve always got with me…
So with tomorrow being the start of a New Year let’s all go into it full steam ahead and excited about what we’ll be creating.
Put dates in your diary and start planning and preparing your next Personal Project; make THAT your NEW YEAR’S PROMISE!
See you Next Year,
