CC Mastermind: Helping each other by Sharing

I’m glad to say that from right back when I first started out in this industry, I’ve been surrounded by folks that are willing to share the knowledge they have in order to help those around them to grow and develop.

Sure there are always people that are very guarded about what they do but to honest I can’t help but think this is an insecurity; scared that people will start doing what they are and so take business from them. The reality though is that no matter what we share, we all have different personalities, different life experiences and different skill levels, so what is shared will inevitably be interpreted differently and in that person’s style..does that make sense?

In fact I’d go so far to say that if you’re scared of then it’s telling you one thing…get better and don’t expect to be able to remain at the same skill level you have today.

Anyway, with all that in mind, this past weekend we held the very first of our CC Mastermind sessions. This is where as a close group of friends we arranged a 4 hour meeting to share information. This information can take the form of anything related to Photography, Retouching, Business and in fact anything that others may find useful.

CCN

From Left to Right: Jonathan Thompson, Keith Hammond, Noel Hannan, JJ Jones, Lee Gorecki, Yours Truly, James Hole & Brian Worley

To say the first meeting was a success would be a complete understatement. The amount shared and the amount learned by each and everyone present was quite overwhelming…

Websites, Apps, Best Business Practices, Tips, Techniques, Equipment to check out, new books worth reading and so it went on…

HUGE thanks to the guys for coming along; some travelling considerable distance to make it. Of course it’s not easy to get a date when everyone can attend so rest assured those unable were missed however we’ll be planning ongoing sessions roughly every 8 weeks. Mind you..we’ll need a bigger room if all 11 members come along 🙂

So what about you? Why not get a group together and do something similar? Helping each other out like this is so incredibly beneficial for all involved and by sharing with each other, we ALL move forward!

Oh and we’ve called this Masterminding session, the CC Mastermind / CC Network. Why CC? The Curry Club of course 🙂

Have a great start to the week and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow.

Enjoy,
Glyn

I can’t agree more Glyn, it was a great success. I learnt tons of new stuff and it such a perfect reason to get together. Why would you want to be alone in a creative industry. Where we’re all trying to push & stretch ourselves. Competing with nobody but ourselves. It’s are beliefs, dreams, vision and fears that direct our lives more than anything else. There’s no better feeling than helping someone else along their way, by sharing something you’ve already discovered.

We’re very fortunate to have a great bunch of guys. Without being all deep, we’re not together by accident. You look for like minded people. If you look for anything you’ll find it.

I hope many other groups of friends put their own CC together. Let’s keep it on the downlow on being the Cupcake Network really 😉

Really looking forward to actioning on some of the new info and getting together again in a couple of months.

A big Cheers to all the CC members 🙂

Hi Glyn, love the idea of these Photography & PS Mastermind sessions. You hit the nail on the head with sharing knowledge and experiences. Really not sure with people that go cryptic and think they have some secret formula with photography. Its a people business. Even if you shoot macro or landscapes.

If you ever decide to hold one in London try out The Rag Factory (http://www.ragfactory.org.uk/what_s_here/) It has enough space in various studios to cater for 8-20 people to get together. Even some shooting space to test out a few ideas. Its very cheap, the smallest space cost me £35 on a Sunday. Its just off Brick Lane so fulfils the criteria of Curry Club too!
