Earlier this week I mentioned about running a LIVE Broadcast over on my YouTube Channel having had a break from running them for about 9 months (because of finishing writing my latest book and workload)

Thanks to everyone who tuned in LIVE and for all the great feedback because I have to say it was so incredibly easy to set up and run because of this new kit I was recommended. Before this week I’d been using software called Wirecast which is superb and industry standard in the Live TV world but felt like spinning plates when running a broadcast on your own.

So long story short I was recommended the Elgato Stream Deck and software called OBS and couldn’t be happier. The OBS software is completely free, is incredibly easy to set up and runs like a dream (so wish I’d known about this before buying Wirecast for I reckon not far off ¬£800…doh!).

The Stream Deck is where the magic happens. All you need to do is to assign actions / scenes to the buttons and whilst you’re broadcasting simply press them. Prior to the broadcast I’d set up keys to: Go LIVE, run trailers for my new book, Westcott, show my desktop, show my webcam feed and so on and well, it just worked flawlessly! You can even assign your own icons / graphics to the buttons so that at a quick glance you can see what each of the buttons are assigned to do. Brilliant!

Anyway I thought I’d share my ravings about this kit just in case you were considering doing LIVE Broadcasts or just want to make the whole experience of running one stress free … well, almost ūüôā
