Those of you who are regular readers of this blog or follow me over on social media will definitely have heard me mention the name Aaron Blaise.
Aaron is such a dear friend; someone I feel truly blessed to have in my life but that aside he is without question THE most talented person I’ve ever met!
An Artist and Animator who worked at Disney for over 20 years creating and bringing to life, lead characters in films such The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas to name but a few, PLUS directing the movie Brother Bear, serving as 2D Animation Supervisor and Character Designer for the John Lewis Stores ‘Bear and the Hare’ Christmas Television Commercial and so it goes on…
In previous posts, plus in videos over on my YouTube Channel I’ve eluded to how much we as Photographers and Retouchers can learn from traditional artists such as Aaron. In this digital age, even more than ever, there are workflows and techniques that are most definitely cross platform and can be used to enhance and develop our work on both sides.
So, today I wanted to point you to Aaron’s online store where he has many tutorials available which have invaluable information you can take and learn from with regards to the behaviour of colour and composition. There’s also texture packs he’s created that he uses in his own art and we all know how much value textures can add to an image.
Very soon Aaron will be releasing a new brush pack that you’ll be able to install into Photoshop and use to recreate hair/fur. I’d HIGHLY recommend that you get hold of these but also make sure you check out Aaron’s tutorials for how to best use them so you too can begin recreating realistic hair/fur. For one, you’ll end up saving a ton of time making tricky selections and cut outs a thing of the past by learning how to paint in hair!!!
Here’s just a sample of some of what’s coming in Aaron’s NEW Photoshop Hair Brush set…
Of course, there’s always fun to be had…I just wish the hair could be painted in for real 🙂
Check out Aaron’s web store where you can download tutorials, texture packs, tutorial bundles and of course very soon this incredible hair brush set:
Have a fantastic weekend and I’ll catch you back here in a few days.
Enjoy,
Glyn
