Get inspired by getting to work on a Personal Project

Hey Folks,

Thanks for stopping by.

Friday already and so today I have a quick post but also a suggestion about personal projects…

I’ve mentioned it before that each and every month I’ll make a point of putting time in the diary for 1 or 2 personal project shoots. I’ll go through the whole process of coming up with an idea for a picture, sourcing props, locations for backgrounds, models and so on…

One question I get asked probably more than most though is ‘Where do you get your ideas from?’

Inspiration is everywhere and what’s more…it’s completely free! I love places like the Apple Movie Trailers website, browsing the movie section in Amazon to look through the DVD covers and more recently the IMP Awards website for checking out all the great movie artwork which is guaranteed to leave me buzzing with ideas…

Personal projects are a heck of a lot of fun and what’s more help keep you fresh, excited and are a great way to push your own skills by trying to replicate certain looks and effects that ordinarily you may never have attempted.

So, with the weekend upon us why not put a date in the diary that you’ll work towards being a photo shoot for your own personal project and set about coming up with a picture that you’d like to replicate and add your own twist to.

And here’s the thing…don’t look to come away with lots of different photos from the shoot. Having a clear idea of what it is you want to achieve means that you can take your time in the studio working on just the one final image…the lighting, the posing etc…

Looper aka Loopy
Here’s a couple of shots of Dave and myself that I’m using to make my own version of the ‘LOOPER’ movie poster (above) but calling it something like ‘LOOPY which some would say is far more appropriate 🙂

I’ll be sure to post the final image here as soon as I’ve finished it but in the mean time have a great weekend and I’ll catch you back here on Monday when I’ll be posting Part 3 of my Madame Spooky retouch videos.
Enjoy,
Glyn
