LEWIS: New Pictures from my Elinchrom Presentations

Can’t believe it’a over a week already since I was in London presenting for Elinchrom and The Flash Centre at the 2018 Societies Event.

I write a brief post about the event HERE but following on from that I thought I’d share some of the results from the portraits I was taking of Male Model, Lewis over the 3 days…Elinchrom

This particular couple of photographs were taken on the last day; first day Lewis wore no tie, second day tie but shirt out and third day tie on and shirt tucked in; such is the luxury of shooting for the 3 days so we could then decide what look we preferred.

As for the lighting, the modifier I used was the Elinchrom Rotalux 100cm (39″) Deep Octa which is now my modifier of choice. For the past couple of years or so I’ve worked pretty much exclusively with the Elinchrom Rotalux 135cm (50″) Octa but having used the Deep Octa I’m now wanting to see how I can add to the look. It’s hard to describe what the difference is other than I find the light has more character and depth which I fell really suits my particular style. I’ll make a point of doing a video about it very soon.

Here’s a few screen grab from some video footage taken during the presentation so you can clearly see the set up used…

Elinchrom Flash Centre

So, as for the kit here’s what I used:

  • Sony A7RII
  • Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM Lens
  • Tether Tools Jerk Stopper and Cable
  • Elinchrom ELC Pro HD 1000
  • Elinchrom Rotalux 100cm (39″) Deep Octa
  • Lastolite Collapsible Background (Joe McNally Range)

You can see all this and more by CLICKING HERE to visit my Kit List Page.

If you’re interested in camera settings here’s what I used:

  • Shutter Speed: 1/125sec
  • ISO: 100
  • Aperture: f/4.0

I’m going to add a follow up post showing how to finesse the Rembrandt Style of lighting this coming week. I would do it now but I need to put some work into a pitch that I’m preparing for a new client that I’m seeing this coming Monday.

Catch you later,
Glyn

Great pictures. Would you recommend the Sony A7RIII a camera for travelling and every day use? I notice you used the Sony A7RII here. Thanks!

      Hi Darren

Thanks for the kind words. As for the A7RIII it’s hard for me to recommend as I haven’t used it yet however I do have friends that have one and they absolutely LOVE it! I’m sure at some point I will get it but for now there’s so much in the A7RII I haven’t even discovered.

      Cheers
