I was browsing through my some of my images yesterday deciding what I want to show in my new portfolio page for when it goes Live and came across this picture from a couple of years ago…

sculpture

This was from a photo shoot with ex WWE American Wrestler Steve Lewington and was actually what is affectionately known as a Happy Accident.

This basically means that the original intended shot wasn’t achieved for some reason, which in this case was because of the front fill light I had set up, failing to trigger, but the result ends up being pretty cool.

So, minus the front fill light here’s what the lighting actually ended up being:

Note: It’s not possible to show it in the lighting diagram, but as well the strip boxes being positioned to the side of Steve and back towards the wall, as opposed to him being sandwiched between them, the strip boxes were also higher up and angled forward.

As well as the lighting diagram check out the picture below showing the out of camera picture and what I mean about the angle of the strip boxes:

Anyway I hope that all made sense and hey if it did and you give it a try with your own pictures, please do tag me in so I can see what you created.

As always feel free to share this post and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them below.

Catch you next time,

Glyn
