Keep Shooting (Lots) and Keep Capturing Memories

Hey Everyone

Today I just wanted to finish this week of posts off with a video; a Christmas themed promotional video from Apple.

Understand I don’t show this to promote Apple but rather for the message; if you haven’t seen it take a look below:

In addition to the “Bear and the Hare” animation by my friend Aaron Blaise, this is one of this years Christmas adverts that’s stopped me in my tracks and made me think.

The advert reinforces the importance of capturing memories be they still or video. Not worrying about the perfect exposure, the perfect composition, the perfect pose…just capturing memories.

One thing I’m making a conscious effort of nowadays is taking my camera with me everywhere as opposed to only when shooting for a specific reason, which is why I ordered the Fuji X-E2 because it’s so light, portable and the picture quality is great. Up until recently I just relied on my iPhone for taking those pictures when out and about; pictures of everyday life and yeah the quality is good but I still want to use a ‘camera’…if that makes sense.

I guess I’m preaching to the converted here but Photography is so incredibly important and a comment in a blog I posted on Wednesday this week “My 2 Most Valuable Pictures and Why” totally shows why…

“Many years ago, a friend of my step-daughter visited our home. I was playing around with my camera and asked her to pose for me in the garden. Not long after, as a pedestrian, she was hit by a car in town one night and died. Her parents had been told I had an image of her and asked me to print them a copy. When I delivered that image to their home, it was very emotional. I knew then that photography would always be a part of my life”. ~ Henry Murphy

Keep Shooting (lots), Keep capturing memories and Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff!

Have a fantastic weekend and I’ll catch you back here in a few days.

Enjoy,
Glyn

That Fuji X-E2 is so tempting. I know Calmet are giving free 3 day trials for the Fuji X-M1’s. So I may try that. In the meantime I going to carry my slr everywhere after reading your post.

Hey Glyn, I know exactly what you mean about wanting to have a smaller camera but retain quality at the same time; I’m in a similar position. I have been looking at the XPro1 as they also have a good deal on. I recently tried out the camera fitted with a Fuji X 35mm 1.4 lens to look at how it deals with shallow depth of field, something I think a lot of smaller cameras don’t handle so well. From what I saw of the results, it looks like I will be going down this route.
