Hey Folks,

How’s it going?

Just wanted to let you know that today Episode 7 of my Photography, Photoshop and Lightroom video podcast show is now online!

In this episode I’m sticking with Photoshop to show you first of all how you can very quickly and very easily add a completely new sky into your pictures including how to add it into windows and retain the reflections.

Then I also go through a workaround aimed at those of you not on the Adobe Creative Cloud to show how you can use the Camera RAW filter with any layer in Photoshop. One of the biggest things to come with the new Photoshop CC is the ability to use Camera RAW as a filter…for me I honestly think it’s this alone that has contributed to my workflow being turned on it’s head and completely different to what it was just a few short weeks ago;  now it’s faster, tidier and completely non destructive and what’s more I believe a workflow that everyone can grasp!

The very fact that this Camera RAW workaround is exactly that…a workaround it isn’t as effective as the update in the Creative Cloud but it’s still a very workable solution.

Hope you like it and of course if you could share this and my other videos with others you think might like to learn some FREE techniques that would be AWESOME!

Thanks for looking in and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow.
Enjoy,
Glyn

Thanks for another great video tutorial Glyn.

Yes, I would like to see the full editing process of the car as a tutorial. Will you be covering the Pen Tool in that process – it’s one of the areas I have always struggled with.

Talking of making selections, I’d appreciate any tips on how I can deal with the moving propellers on a plane in the sky when I want to make a selection of the whole plane and props to use in a composite.

Glyn, another great video, very useful. I too would be very interested in seeing a full edit tutorial of the car.
One small thing I noticed. The shadow of the car was on the right whilst the shadow on the clouds was on the left (one of those ‘something not quite right’ moments). How would you normally address that? I’ve tried reversing similar images but it didn’t quite sit right.
Love the new video blog format.

Stephen as this picture is a ‘work in progress’ my intention as I work through is to consider removing the ground shadow anyway as we wanted the day to be overcast a little more than it was ie bright sunny day with zero clouds 🙂

    Hello Glyn,
I am absolutely intrigued by your tutorial. I would like to see how easy or hard it was to make a neat selection of the car’s antenna with the pen tool. Also the principles behind creating the reflection of the landscape onto the side of the car, how to distort it realistically.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Myriam
