I saw the elixxier Set A Light 3D software for the first time at Photokina in 2012; in fact it was the first time I’d seen any software that enabled users to simulate lighting set ups quite like it.

Sure there’s no replacement for actually being hands on and experimenting with real lights but I think as a teaching and learning aid this has huge benefits.

Looking at how the software has developed since the first time I was exposed to it (no pun intended) there’s lots more functionality, modifiers, set ups, models and more available.
