Today I wanted to mention about something I’ve already written about, albeit briefly before…
Behance as it describes itself is:
“The leading online platform to showcase and discover creative work. The creative world updates their work in one place to broadcast it widely and efficiently. Companies explore the work and access talent on a global scale”
Now when I’ve written about it before it was more to do with the fact that I have my portfolio on there as well as some final images including retouching through the stages as I showed here [Link]
Now however I just wanted to draw you attention to the other side of Behance which is called Work in Progress.
Basically this is all about collaboration so what you can do here is upload versions of your images as you work through them step by step and people who use Behance can then offer opinions, advice, recommendations etc…
Now I know this can be done elsewhere on places like Facebook , in fact it’s done elsewhere even when you don’t ask for it (if you know what I mean) but the difference here is that you are revealing your Work in Progress to the Creative Community as opposed to anyone and everyone and by doing so are encouraging feedback.
My own experience here is that the feedback, comments, recommendations by and large have been incredibly helpful. Some may feel they don’t want to receive feedback and that’s fine…you can just post onto the Portfolio / Projects side of things but I’m very much of the opinion that everyone has something they can bring to the table and I’ll listen to most; might not employ it all but I’ll always consider it. It’s always interesting to hear at least from others as they see your own work with different eyes.
•One thing to note: My own Work in Progress that I share will be for my own personal projects and not for client / paid work / commissions.
You can check out my own Behance presence here [Link] where you’ll also see my current Work in Progress that I added just a few days ago; images from personal project shoots that I’m working on during down time…
Anyway something for you to consider and I hope what I say here makes sense.
Have a great Tuesday and I’ll catch you back here tomorrow.
ps> I’ve also found that ‘views’ are very encouraging when posting ‘Work in Progress’ so if you’re looking to get eyes on your work then this could well be something to consider.
