Here's my current 2026 list of kit for photography and video - everything I actually use.
Full transparency: I'm a Westcott Top Pro and a BenQ Ambassador, but that said, I use this gear because it does exactly what I need it to, and I was using Westcott and BenQ kit long before any of those relationships started.

WESTCOTT X-DROP PRO Background
I get asked about the background I use on a very regular basis, and this is it … the X-Drop Pro Background Stand from Westcott, along with my Signature 'Glyn Dewis Vintage Grey Canvas'. I've used it extensively, including throughout my 39-45 Portraits Project, because it's so incredibly portable.
It's light and portable but also incredibly sturdy, with backgrounds in 8' x 8' , 7' x 5' , 8’ x 13’ and 5’ x 12’ sizes, (I use the 7’ x 5’ most of the time) made from a machine washable and dryer safe, non-reflective material that folds up, making it even more convenient to take on location.

I couldn't be happier with these. I'm a BenQ Ambassador, but I was using their monitors long before that relationship began - great price, great colour accuracy, and I've never had one fail on me.
The SW272U is a 27" 4K display with a matte anti-glare screen, wireless hotkey puck, and 90W USB-C. Paired with the new Palette Master Ultimate calibration software, it's a dream to work with.
The PD2770U is superb too - the first PD monitor with Adobe RGB and a built-in calibration device.

I’ve used both the Epson and Canon extensively for years; both produce superb prints so what you go for is very much personal preference.
