Subtitles / Captions: Why did I not think of this?

Why did I not think of this?

Had a message from someone that had enrolled in my New Photoshop Lighting Effects Course saying that they were Hard of Hearing and asking if there were subtitles / captions they could turn on to help them.

There weren't. I'd completely missed doing that, BUT I'm glad to say I’ve now added them in.

Paid and sent all the video content to Rev who have manually transcribed each one and having reviewed each and every one using their online editor, making edits for words that weren’t quite right (can’t blame them with my accent), they’ve now been added in and work a treat!

A tad disappointed in myself that I hadn't thought of folks with hearing difficulties but certainly won't make that mistake again. There’s an obvious cost to get them done manually ($1.25 / minute) but I couldn't rely on the automatically generated ones because they're far from accurate, and with this being Photoshop, the subtitles / captions need to be right.

Thankfully Rev make it super easy when it comes to making any edits using their online system. You can listen and watch through at an increased speed, and then once happy with the edits simply download the .srt file. All I had to do then was add that into each video within the course. Took a bit of time due to the amount of videos but really happy to now got this sorted.

Over the next week I'll be making sure that other courses on my site also have subtitles / captions available.

Cheers,
