Long exposure photography usually means reaching for a tripod, but this iPhone camera app changes that. It's called ReeHeld, and it means you can take hand-held long exposure photographs of up to 30 seconds. Here I take a look at the app and what it's capable of, showing how it handles those longer exposures without the phone needing to be locked down on a tripod.

I've wasted so much money over the years on poor phone holders so that I can use my phone on a tripod, but I've finally found the one I think is the best on the market. Here I show you the mount and explain why it gets my vote, looking at its build quality, how easy it is to use and the value for money it offers. If you shoot with your phone on a tripod, it's well worth knowing about before you spend money on one that lets you down.

Not exactly cheap but well worth it. VERY well made ( metal construction ). Slots straight into the ARCA mount on my tripod. Locks phone in place and separate turn knob to lock in vertical or horizontal.
Lately weβve had few spells of high winds on the coast and I found that although the SmallRig I have been using is pretty stable on the tripod, the support for the phone itself Iβve never trusted 100%
This new holder though is rock steady on the tripod and the hold it has on the phone is VERY secure with a turn of the red metal dial The inner black metal dial you turn to lock the orientation of the phone ( vertical / horizontal )
. The fact that it is so small too is definitely a bonus!

Now when I say camera, I mean the camera that, because of apps, I can do other things on like email, check the weather, browse websites and all that kind of stuff β¦ you know the one I mean right?
Anyway, thankfully itβs always with me, and thankfully I always keep a tripod in the car, which meant when I popped down to Lyme Regis for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon I didnβt miss the opportunity to take some photographs of a superb incoming tide of crashing waves β¦
For this image I took. a series of 0.5 second and 1 second exposures using both the Lightroom Camera and ReeXpose, and then blended parts together in Lightroom and Photoshop to end up with a scene that for me best represents what it was like being there, as wave after wave crashed into the rocks.

Shocked and Saddened to just this minute learn that Sam made the ultimate decision to escape the extreme sadness in his personal life.
We met a couple of times, both when I was photographing him and had the occasional conversation on messenger; a gentle, warm, kind, friendly guy with a wicked sense of humour.
He will be missed by many!

Yes, you read that right: a 72 inch print of an iPhone photograph. Here I not only show the print itself but also take you through the kit I used, along with my favourite iPhone app for creating long exposure photographs. I also show what I used to upscale the original image more than four times to reach the final 72 inches, and I honestly couldn't believe how good the quality of the print turned out to be. It made me very excited about where mobile photography is heading.

Here's a great way to use the Masking section in Lightroom, or Camera Raw, to add realistic light into your pictures. I go through the masking step by step so you can see how the light is built up, and then show how to create an Intelligent Preset from it. Once that's done, you can add the same realistic light to any picture with just one click, which saves a lot of time when you want a consistent look across your images.
